For example: do not just write “peanuts”. Instead let us know if you are deathly allergic to peanuts, if you require that no other peanuts are allowed in camp, or just not in your meals, etc.

Release of Liability

WARNING: You are about to enter a world of doom and gloom and legal-ese. But before we paint a picture of all the terrible things that might happen when you step outside your door to have an
adventure, we’d like to take a moment to share some of the things we do to reduce or prevent mishaps:

• Kielyn and Dave Marrone are both Wilderness First Responder (80h first aid);
• We are graduates of Laurentian University’s Outdoor Adventure Leadership Degree program,
  and have years of combined experience guiding expeditions year-round, including thousands of
  kilometres of remote wilderness expeditions;
• We carry extensive first aid, emergency and repair kits and are well versed in how to use them;
• We carry satellite communication (or cell communication if appropriate) devices on all our
  expeditions. This includes a SPOT messenger device and/ or a satelllite phone;
• All guest participants have the power of “Challenge by Choice”. That is, if there is ever an
  activity that they do not feel comfortable with, they are encouraged to speak up and share this
  concern with the guides and/ or group;
• We have a dedicated logistical coordinator at home who has years of experience in this position,
  and is well versed in our emergency protocols;
• Because we make much of our own equipment, we are well versed in their strengths,
  weaknesses and how to repair damaged equipment;
• We believe the style in which we travel is inherently much safer than many other outdoor
  pursuits. We try to travel at a slower pace and more in tune with the natural environment. We
  carry the tools and knowledge necessary to weather storms and remain comfortable in
  the wilderness for days on end. You will find we
  are firmly on the side of safety and comfort in the wild.

Assumption of Risk

I am aware that any activity in the wilderness includes many inherent risks. Such activities pose a risk of emotional or physical injury, including the possibility of serious bodily injury or death.

• I accept the fact that Lure of the North, and all associated guides or employees, cannot
  guarantee my safety on such an expedition.
• I also understand that damage to property may occur as a result of my participation in this
  activity.
• I freely accept and assume all such risks, danger and hazards and the possibility of personal
  injury, death, property damage or loss resulting from my participation in this activity.
• I understand that if I am removed from a trip for any reason whatsoever, all evacuation, hospital
  expenses, doctors’ fees and repatriation costs are my responsibility. [Please note: the Ontario
  government, which conducts rescue operations in Ontario, does not have a history of charging
  for most rescues, though this may not be the case for international guests. Please look into
  travel insurance].

In consideration of Lure of the North allowing my participation in the activity of The Activity, I
agree as follows:

In entering into this Agreement, I am not relying upon any oral or written representatives or statements made by the Releasees other than what is set forth in this Agreement.

I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THIS AGREEMENT, AND I AM AWARE THAT BY
SIGNING I AM WAIVING CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS WHICH I OR MY HEIRS, NEXT OF KIN,
EXECUTORS, ADMINISTRATORS AND ASSIGNS MAY HAVE AGAINST THE RELEASEES.
