EC 2017: Temagami Explorations

Our 2017 explorer’s club aimed to find remote wilderness in an accessible part of the Temagami wilderness.  We departed from a beautiful log cabin and headed into a steep-walled canyon, difficult to navigate in the winter.  The scenery and terrain were exactly what we’d hoped for, but this trip was defined far more by the weather than the landscape.   This has to be, surely, our warmest, wettest trip on record, with melting ice, torrential downpours, and even a winter thunderstorm rolling through mid-morning!  Incredible attitudes, despite incredible conditions, kept spirits high and the sense of adventure alive as we completed the route!

As an extra special treat, (perhaps to compensate for the weather?) filmmakers Goh Iromoto and Courtney Boyd joined us to document the adventure.  We’re eagerly anticipating their finished video :)
