Kielyn “Toboggin Loggin”

Sometimes the only thing you need to pack with you is a large saw and a lot of wood.  For every time else, we like to refer to our lists to ensure nothing is forgotten!

Now updated for 2015:

And as a little bonus, we’ve just put together a page with a few details about the wooden boxes we use on trip, in an effort to help out others thinking of making their own:

Our workshop season is well underway! We have just wrapped up an exceptional 9 days with a snowshoe weaving and two moccasin workshops at the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough, Ontario. We are back at the Museum this coming weekend for one more snowshoe weaving workshop. There are still 4 spots left so don’t hesitate and book now! Workshop Season is Upon Us!

A wonderful cultural hub to kickoff our workshop season!

A wonderful cultural hub to kickoff our workshop season!

Workshop season has arrived – and we couldn’t be happier!

  1. It means winter is just around the corner, and that’s always an exciting time of year;
  2. We’ll have the privilege over the next 6 weeks  to meet dozens of excited snow walkers, and their enthusiasm is always uplifting and infectious!

So bring on the brisk winds of fall, the smell of fallen leaves, the too-early Christmas decorations and the joy of another winter around the corner!

On the road!

Please note: we are on the road as part of our workshop circuit from Oct 24 – Nov 9th.  We will still be accepting orders at this time, and will fulfill them in the order they are received, but there may be a delay on certain items.  We will contact you with an update on your order status once it is received.  We apologize for any delay and thank you for your understanding.

Our 3-season shipping department (it gets even more difficult in the winter!)

We’re beginning to transition to full-time living out at “the pond”. As such we’ve updated our shipping policy to reflect the practical difficulties of getting out to the nearest post office. You can read about it here:
lureofthenorth.com/shipping, or in brief:

we will now ship goods once a week, typically on Fridays.

Preliminary Schedule is Live!

A peaceful moment on the pond.

A peaceful moment on the pond.

Things are starting to quiet down a little bit at the pond as much of the summer’s work has been completed. That has brought our thoughts back to the joy of winter travel and the importance of fall preparation!

Our preliminary schedule is now live here,  but we’ll be fleshing it out with more details over the next month or so.
