Description
Fenix CL25R lanterns.
You can read more info on the Fenix website here.
These are perfectly functional lanterns. The issue we have with them is the battery housing is recessed into the base of the lantern, making it difficult to swap batteries in the field, with sore, winter-chapped finger tips! We switched to the newer model CL26R lanterns, which resolves this issue, but these guys still work great!
This will be a great lantern, at a great price, if:
- You’re the person that everyone asks to open up the pickle jar;
- You carry a set of wide mouth pliers (like channel locks) in the field;
- You’re mostly a weekend camper, where a single battery will last the entire trip duration; or
- Probably the best solution: instead of bringing multiple replacement batteries, and hot swapping batteries out in the field, just bring a USB battery bank, and recharge the lantern through it’s USB port, without ever removing the battery.
At this price, live a little, you could purchase all 4 of these lanterns for less than the price of a single Fenix CL26R Pro!
