EC 2017: Temagami Explorations

Our 2017 explorer’s club aimed to find remote wilderness in an accessible part of the Temagami wilderness.  We departed from a beautiful log cabin and headed into a steep-walled canyon, difficult to navigate in the winter.  The scenery and terrain were exactly what we’d hoped for, but this trip was defined far more by the weather than the landscape.   This has to be, surely, our warmest, wettest trip on record, with melting ice, torrential downpours, and even a winter thunderstorm rolling through mid-morning!  Incredible attitudes, despite incredible conditions, kept spirits high and the sense of adventure alive as we completed the route!

As an extra special treat, (perhaps to compensate for the weather?) filmmakers Goh Iromoto and Courtney Boyd joined us to document the adventure.  We’re eagerly anticipating their finished video :)

Members (alphabetical): Graham Barnard, Courtney Boyd, Roger David, Frank Dempsey, David Hyndman, Goh Iromoto, Kevin Kavanagh, Cathy Marshall, Dave Marrone, Kielyn Marrone.

Summer Week of Crafting!

We’re heading to the Haliburton School of Art and Design for a week to teach winter moccasins and buckskin mittens! This course is for everyone and is filling up! Don’t miss out on this five day adventure with us. By the end of the week you will be ready to bare the winter with your new buckskin hand-made clothing which will be the warmest coziest outer wear you’ll have owned!

We’re Back!

Boiling Water at -42*C

We are officially finished our expedition season of 2017! Thank you so much to all of our participants for a SOLD OUT season! We are now back at the pond and have been taking a well-needed rest.

The pond ice is soon to be gone. The geese are coming back. The Robin has returned and the Sandhill Cranes are echoing through the mountains.

We will be starting to run through our big long list of improvements to the websites, our products and launching our 2018 expedition season schedule soon! So come back often, because we don’t want you to miss you!

And We’re Off!

The talented Goh Ironmoto uses his drone to caputre these amazing shadows of us.

We are now out on our Temagami Explorations Expedition for 8 days. We have a short lay over back home and then we’re back at it up on the Pontax River for 14 days.

This means that we will not be able to get any retail orders out to you unfortunately. Please know that we will be back at it as soon as we get back but that if you need something in a hurry you may not get the speedy delivery you were hoping for.

We want to thank you with all our hearts for your continued support. We are so privileged to be able to do this for a living.
