“Everyone is on a bit of a high”

“Thank you so much for this weekend! Everyone had a great time, and those of us that work in the office brought our mocs in for our admin and support staff to see. Lots of ohh-ing and aww-ing. Everyone is on a bit of a high this morning with feelings of accomplishment.   We were very thankful to learn so much from the two of you. You both have great energy and patience in teaching us, a group with such diverse levels of interest and experience in this sort of thing. There has already been murmuring of another session.” ~ Kristy Pulver, Program Manager, Kinark Outdoor Centre

“The world was at my fingertips”

“I find comfort in knowing that the wilderness is not going anywhere, and I will be back. The vast expansion and breath of being in the middle of the lake’s belly and the quiet, calm energy in the bush made me feel like the world really was at my finger tips.  I wanted to thank you and Kie and Lure of the North for providing me with this beautiful experience.” – Vanessa, Ishpatina Ridge expedition, 2012

Making an Earth Oven

Episode 1: Building the Foundation

A full series on making an Earth Oven is in the works. By summer 2012 we hope to have all videos published. This will include making and using all aspects of an Earthen Oven, including all associated tools.

Note: This video is intended to be instructional, but if you really want to make your own earth oven, you owe it to yourself to pick up Kiko Denzer’s wonderful book:

Build Your Own Earth Oven: A Low-Cost Wood-Fired Mud Oven; Simple Sourdough Bread; Perfect Loaves

S1T4: Killarney Krossing

A complete winter crossing of Killarney Provincial Park from the SE to NW. Heavy snow and mild temperatures led to poor ice in the creeks and some heinous portages around open sections! Absolutely stunning scenery on this trip!
