Interesting Findings About Trail Toboggans!

Comparing the resilience of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) at -20 degrees Celsius.
The really interesting bit starts at ~ 40s, but in this case “really interesting” is a subjective term – this video is likely only to be of interest to those looking to make or purchase a toboggan.

Please note: while this video shows small bits of HDPE plastic snapping at cold temperatures while being flexed towards 180 degrees, in practice we have never had a well-maintained HDPE toboggan snap, even at temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius.

A Great Workshop Season Once Again!

Thank you to everyone who took a moccasin workshop with us this year. It seems as though moccasins will soon rule the world! We taught over 60 people to make winter moccasins this fall!! Of those 60 people a third of them went home with enough materials to make moccasins for their better halves and children.

Along with our custom orders and DIY kits we are nearing 100 moccasins this year alone that will be scampering and tromping in the snow!!

Last Chance for the Holiday Season for Lure Products!

These toboggans don't make themselves folks!

These toboggans don’t make themselves folks!

Last Call for all products before Christmas! We are heading down to visit family and won’t be available to fill orders from December 19th- January 6th.

I know this seems like an awfully long vacation for two people running a WINTER-based company BUT 8 of those days we are actually on trip scouting a route that we are running this year as one of expeditions. So we thought it be the responsible thing to make sure that it is the greatest route ever before we bring you fine people out on the trail!

Hopefully you’re not too upset with us. We did warn you though in July that winter was indeed coming and that you should start getting prepared then!

There’s still hope though! You still have one week. So make your move soon or you’ll have to wait until next year!

Introducing Dr. Gerard Courtin!

gerard courtinGerard is a very special person. With a heart of gold and a brain of neurons, Gerard for the love of winter trekking has agreed to come along and teach us a little something about winter! On our 9-day Eco-Explorer expedition in the Wolf Lake region of Temagami we will explore the little things like where does a bunting spend a night, are coniferous tree actually better suited for winter than deciduous and more! To find out more about Gerard click here! There are only 3 spots left for this expedition so don’t wait! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity (unless he agrees to do it again next year!!).
